What is a PME?

During the Preventive Medical Examination, also known as the Periodic Medical Examination, the health of employees is analysed. What does a PME at Corporate Vitality at include?

During a PME, a Corporate Vitality physician conducts a health check. This health check takes place at our medical centre or on location.

The PME offers organisations four different health checks: a Basic Health Check, Physical Health Check, Executive Health Check or Sports Medical Health Check.

The results of the PME will be anonymously featured in a dashboard which has been specifically developed for the management of an organisation. This provides a good overview of the vitality of employees without the data being directly linked to individual staff members.

Is a PME compulsory?

A PME is not compulsory, but it’s a tool to comply to Dutch labour law (Arbowet, article 18). This law includes the obligation for an employer to provide its staff a safe and healthy working environment. By having a PME periodically conducted, this obligation will be met.

Preventive Health Check

The difference between a POHE and a PME? A thin line divides these two health checks, but the main difference is that a POHE specifically focuses on a staff member’s health in relation to the work situation. A PME focuses on an employee’s overall health. A PME is never compulsory but is seen as a suitable tool to deploy staff in an effective way. The POHE is compulsory in many sectors.

 

Every organization or company is legally obliged to offer employees a periodic medical examination (PME). With a PME you map out the health situation of your employees and organization, so that they and you know what to do to improve it. With this you actively and concretely shape your sustainable employability policy, of which the vitality of employees is an important part.

The content of the PMO can be interpreted in different ways per organization or company. We always discuss this with our customers so that it ties in with internal issues.
